I'm a human rights activist and the Honduras-based Coordinator for the Honduras Solidarity Network (HSN). Our work focuses on educating North Americans about the impacts of the political and economic policies of the U.S. and Canadian governments, transnational corporations, and International Financial Institutions, in Honduras and the region. I support grassroots movements and communities defending their natural resources, territory, and rights against mining, hydroelectric dams, tourism, and other large-scale "development" projects.
I grew up in small farming community in Ontario, Canada. I've been living in Honduras for the majority of the last six years, arriving in 2008 and then to stay permanently a few weeks after the June 2009 coup d'etat. Before Honduras, I lived in Xela, Guatemala for over a year. I have an BSc in international relations and human biology from the University of Toronto in Toronto, Canada, and a Masters of Public Heath from Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, Canada.
